    What happens after the Mahabharata war ends?

    The Mahabharata is also known as the Kurukshetra War. It was started because of the conflict between two groups of cousins those are Kauravas and Pandavas, for the succession of the throne of Hastinapur.

    However, this epic didn’t end as the battle at Kurukshetra ended. Pandavas won the battles and they ruled Kuru kingdom for 36 years.

    Dhritarashtra and Gandhari’s visit to Kurukshetra

    After Pandavas killed the army of Kauravas, it was announced that they won the battles. Knowing this, Dhritarashtra and Gandhari visit the battlefields. In the field, they met lord Shri Krishna and Pandavas. Seeing the dead bodies of their sons lying around, the royal couple was shocked. At that time lord Krishna tried to console her by saying about the life and death of humans.

    Dhritarashtra was very angry and tried to kill Bheema as he was responsible for the death of his eldest son Duryodhana. However, he can’t do so. Then Yudhishthira was filled be guilt, he folded his hands and said he was the reason for all this disaster.

    Gandhari’s curse to lord Krishna

    Gandhari lost all her hundred sons and accused lord Krishna of her loss. She curses lord Krishna that the way she had witnessed the killing of her family, he also has to witness the downfall of the Yadava family and that they will all start to fight against each other and kill each other, that his kingdom will drown by the ocean and he will die a cruel death after witnessing his own family.

    Yudhishthira as the king of Hastinapur

    After the cremation ceremony of all warriors, all the Pandavas and lord Krishna returned to Hastinapur. The eldest Pandavas, Yudhishthira accepts the position of Hastinapur’s new king. The Pandeva’s grandfather Bhishma who lay injured on the battlefield, gave his final wisdom to Yudhishthira. After this, Dhritarashtra and Gandhari decided to do penance.

    Destruction of the Yadava clan

    Gandhari curse eventually started to show its effects. After 35 years of the Kurukshetra war, the effects of the curse came alive and Yadava started to act worse than the animals. One day when one of them insults Pandit in the outfit of a woman, it angers the Pandit who later curses them that the iron rod will be born out of the person masked as a woman which will destroy the entire family. This man was the son of lord Krishna. This soon turned out true and led to the destruction of the entire family of lord Krishna. Lord Krishna’s family soon ended up killing each other. he then gave birth to an iron rod which took the form of a weapon, from which Yadavas used to kill each other.  

    After this destruction of the Yadava family, lord Krishna sends his message to Hastinapur. The messengers say that lord Krishna asked him to help the women, children, and old age people. After this lord Krishna gets killed as he was accidentally shot by a hunter. It was believed that it was the end of human form. It was the start of Kali Yuga.

    The ultimate journey of Pandavas

    The Pandavas and their wife decided to climb the Himalayas Mountain ranges. Before the left, Yudhishthira announced the Parikshit new king of Hastinapur. The Pandavas and their wife traveled the Himalayas mountains. On their way, a dog joins them for the entire journey. The dog is Yama Dharma Raja, the lord of death. While going to the Himalayas, Draupadi and 4 Pandavas exemption of Yudhishthira falls from the mountains. Draupadi was the first who fell, followed by Sahadev, Nakul, arjuna, and Bhima. After all this happens, Yudhishthira and the dog continue their ascent.
