In Hinduism and Janeu Sanskar or Upanayana Sanskar is one of the most important customs. In this blog, we learn about Upanayana Sanskar muhurat 2025.
Many customs are observed in Hinduism and Janeu Sanskar or Upanayana Sanskar is one of the most important customs even after marriage. During the ceremony, the boy wears the holy white thread and performs many rituals.
What is Janue Sanskar or Upanayana Sanskar?
The Upanayana comes from 2 words “Up” means near and “Nayana” means vision. This suggests keeping ourselves out of the darkness and moving toward the light. In this blog, we will discuss about auspicious Upanayana Sanskar muhurat 2025.
Brahmins, Kshatriyas, and Vaishyas perform this ritual for the groom before his wedding. This ritual is also known as Yagnopavitra.
Upanayana Sanskar importance
Every ritual overserved in Hinduism has special significance. The Janeu marks the boy’s transition from childhood to adolescence. The priest waves a holy thread over the boy’s left shoulder and beneath his right arm.
Janeu comprises 3 threads and they represent Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh and also Devaruna, Pitruruna, and Rishiruna. And also, few people believed it was Sattva, Raha, and Tama. The 4th represents the Gayatri mantra and the 5th represents 3 ashrams.

Janeu thread rule
When a boy wears the Janeu thread then he only can wear one piece of clothing that has no stitching. A yellow fabric is worn around the neck and he should participate in Yagna wearing the Janeu thread.
Upanayana Sanskar Manta
Janeu begins with the Gaytri mantra and there are 3 phases of the Gaytri Mantra. The 1st is Tatsvituvarnrayan’, the 2nd is ‘Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi’, and the 3rd is ‘Dhio yo na: Prachodayat’.
Janeu ka mantra
Upanayana Sanskar Vidhi
We mentioned the rites that performed by Hindu during Upanayana Sanskar:
1. Before starting the Janeu Sanskar, a child hair need to be shaved.
2. On Upanayana Sanskar muhurat 2025, the boy bathes first and then puts sandalwood paste on his head and body, and after that family members will start the Havan preparation.
3. Then, the boy needs to worship lord Ganesha and start the yagna. The Gayatri mantra needs to be chanted 10,000 times to take the blessing of gods and goddesses.
4. The boy needs to take vows to follow Shastra’s teaching and after that, he eats Churma with other boys.
5. A senior member of the household chants the Gayatri Mantra in front of the child and tells him that he is Brahmin from today.
6. After that, they gave him a stick and tied Mekhala and Kandora to him. Now he needs to request bhiksha from others around him.
7. As part of Upanayana Sanskar vidhi, he needs to run away from home post dinner.
