What is Rama Ekadashi?
Devotees worship Lord Vishnu and his wife goddess Lakshmi on Rama Ekadashi. Worshipping the goddess of fortune and wealth will be highly rewarding, as this Ekadashi falls 4 days before Diwali. On Ekadashi, believers worship lord Vishnu in his different avatars, and on this day, they worship his 8th avatar, lord Krishna in the form of Damodara.
Also, the word “Damodara” represents the name of Lord Krishna. This word comes from 2 different words “Dam” which suggests belly. Krishna’s mother, Yashoda, also refers to him as Damodara because she tied him around her waist when he was a baby.

Why do we celebrate Rama Ekadashi?
Rama Ekadashi is related to many deities: lord Vishnu, Krishna, and goddess Laxmi. Keeping fast and following the rituals of Ekadashi with full devotion will be rewarding for believers. Rama Ekadashi happens four days before Diwali, making it a great day to ask for blessings for good health, forgiveness of sins, wealth, and success.
Also, many believe that keeping fast, worshipping the deities, and following its rituals are equal to conducting 1000 Ashwamedha Yajnas and 100 Rajasuya Yajnas. These yajnas are most powerful according to the importance of Rama Ekadashi.
