Phalguna Purnima is a day on which we worship Lord Vishnu. Phalguna Purnima Katha is related to the story of Hiranya Kashyap and his son Prahalad, who was a devotee of Lord Vishnu. Hiranya Kashyap is the enemy of Lord Vishnu, who tried to kill Prahlad because he was devoted to him. However, lord Vishnu always protected him.
Hiranya Kashyap makes a plan to kill Prahlad by asking his sister Holika to take Prahlad on her lap and sit on fire. Holika has a boon from lord Brahma that she cannot be killed by fire. But, with lord Vishnu’s blessings, Prahlad was saved and Holika was burned.
This story represents the victory of good over evil. Celebrated during Holi. On Phalguna Purnima Holika Dahan is performed where bonfires made from cow dung and sticks are burned. After the ceremony, puja is organized at auspicious time, celebrating the victory of devotion.

1. Collect wood sticks and dry dung in an open area.
2. Place all the items on the plate and offer them to Holika Mata: Kumkum, rice, turmeric, henna, gulal, Roli, Coconut, wheat, cotton, lotus, flowers, and garlands.
3. Now burn wood sticks and cow dung.
4. During this time recite Lord Narsimha mantra “ॐ नृसिंहाय विद्महे, वज्रनखाय धीमहि। तन्नो सिंहः प्रचोदयात्" और "ॐ वज्रनखाय विद्महे, तीक्ष्ण दंष्ट्राय धीमहि। तन्नो नरसिंहः प्रचोदयात्"
5. Perform an aarti and take a round around Holika.
