Ganesh Chaturthi 2024: The son of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati, lord Ganesh, is believed to bless his believers with wisdom, success, and good fortune.
Ganesh Chaturthi is known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganesh Utsav, and it is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha. He is considered the god of wisdom, prosperity, and good fortune. Ganesh Chaturthi is the most widely celebrated festival in India, especially in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Goa, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu. He is the remover of obstacles.
Ganesh Chaturthi 2024: Date
The 10-day festival starts on the 4th day of Bhadrapada (Hindu Month), which usually falls between August and September, according to the Gregorian calendar. This year the festival will start on 6 September and end on 17 September.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2024: Shubh Muhurat and Tithi
The most Shubh Muhurat to welcome Lord Ganesha on Chaturthi Tithi will begin on 6th September at 03:01 AM and end on 7th September at 05:37 PM.
The auspicious puja muhurat will start on 7th September 2024 from 11:03 Am to 01:34 Pm.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2024: Rituals and celebration
According to belief, Lord Ganesha is known as Vighnaharta, or one who removes obstacles. He holds great importance in Hinduism where almost all rituals start with his worship. Celebration for this festival starts months in advance with the making ideal of Lord Ganesha.
Ganesh Chaturthi has 4 main rituals: Pranapratishtha, Shodashopachara, Uttarpuja, and Visarjan puja. People decorate their houses with flowers, and rangoli and bring idols of lord Ganesha into their homes. The idea of Ganesh is placed at puja Pandals, homes, offices, and educational institutions on the day of Chaturthi.
The Prana Pratishtha is done by priests by chanting Mantras. After Prana Pratishtha, 16 different rituals are performed known as Shodashopachara puja. The famous sweet Modak, from Maharashtra, is said to be the favorite Prasad of Lord Ganesha. Modak and fruits are offered to lord Ganesha during puja.
People celebrate this festival by singing and playing religious songs, dancing to drum beats, and preparing delicious meals. The 3rd ritual of Ganesh Chaturthi is Uttarpuja which is about giving farewell to Lord Ganesha.
On the 10th day of Ganesh Chaturthi, the idol of Lord Ganesh is submerged in the river with full devotion, and this ceremony is known as Ganesh Visarjan. People chant “Ganapati Bappa Morya, Purchya Varshi Laukariya”.
