    1. Urmila (Spouse of Lakshaman)

    Urmila is Lakshman’s wife. Lakshman went on for 14 years for Vanvas with his brother lord ram, but Urmila stayed on Lakshman’s command to care for his parents,

    It is believed that Lakshman didn’t sleep throughout the 14 years. Nidra Devi instructed him to have someone else sleep in his place, so Urmila took this responsibility and slept daily in Lakshman’s place with Nidra Devi.

    Also, Urmila is the only one who objects when lord ram sends Sita to live in the woods. She depicts the value of fulfilling one’s duties, love for her husband, and speaking up against wrong.

    1. Sampati (Jatayu’s brother)

    Sampati is brother of Jatayu. He played an important role in finding the goddess Sita. In doing so, he and his brother reached very close to the sun as they were prone to the sun’s harsh heat and Sampati covered his brother Jatayu with his wings to protect him.

    Also, this burned Sampati’s wings, causing him to lose his ability to fly. After he and Jatayu reached to ground, they told Ram that goddess Sita was 100 yojans away from them, pointing towards Lanka.

    1. Jambavan (The King of bears)

    Jambavan was king of bears and is also one of the inspirational Ramayana characters. His role is related to helping lord ram to find Goddess Sita and defeat Ravan.

    Also, Jambavan plays an important role during the search for goddess Sita by guiding Vanar Sena. Also, Jambavan asked lord hanuman to travel across the sea to search for goddess Sita. He is one of the powerful warriors of Ramayana.

    1. Shabri (Lord Ram’s follower)

    Shabri is a devoted follower of lord ram. She was blessed with a boon by Rishi Matang, who stated that would have the opportunity to have lord ram visit her home. After listening to this, Sabri got excited and went back home.

    She cleaned her house and waited daily for lord Rama’s visit, hoping for his arrival. Upon his arrival, Shabri was so happy and served him ber fruit. Also, her devotion won lord ram’s heart.

    She tasted every single ber before offering it to Lord Ram, she didn’t want to serve bitter or tasteless fruit to Ram, and served him the sweet ones. Her story is told in every household as an example of the purest form of devotion.

    1. Kewat (Boatman)

    Kewat was a boatman and he was the Hidden gem of Ramayana. But he was one of the true believers of lord ram and spent his entire life serving him. He helped them in crossing the Ganga River during his exile.

    But he made a condition that lord ram should be on his feet before he boarded his boat. After successfully helping them cross the river, he denied lord ram’s offer of the ring as a payment.

    1. Garuda (King of Birds)

    Garuda is the king of birds. He is also lord Vishnu’s vehicle. His role in Ramayana is quite prominent as he appears in the sky, spreading his wide wings.

    He helped free Lord Ram and Lakshman from the grip of the lethal noose of the serpent by Megahanda. His tales are an example of bravery and fearlessness.

    1. March (Uncle of Ravan)

    Marich is a demon and uncle of Ravan. His role in Ramayana cannot be forgotten. He pretended to be a golden deer, which led to Sita’s kidnap by Ravan.

    He also had a brother, Subahu. Marich and Subahu were the sons of tadka and Sund. They were known for their activities like annoying the sages and disrupting pooja and havan daily.

    1. Nal – Neela (Vanars who helped in building the ram Setu)

    Nal and Neela are the architects of Ram Setu. They are the lineage of Vishwakarma, who is known to be the Architect of the gods.
